Hi again folks! Well, after months of discussion and organisation it's finally happening- we're making our first wholly studio album. We've spent the past few days laying down percussion and various other instruments, experimenting with new ways of playing and new sounds and have got our guide tracks down. We're expecting several more sessions in the studio before the album is complete but watch this space - it's gonna be a corker!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank those who've helped us on the venture so far - Dan for his percussion and mixing skills, Ross for being a great sound engineer and keeping us laughing the whole time, Simon Faulkes for his exceptional contributions on mandolin and banjo, Chloe for making us laugh by getting excited by feeding chickens and of course Dawson for his immense help in producing the album and helping us with a host of creative ideas

Well once again folks, Norcsalordie have been off performing, this weekend has been a hectic one with Friday seeing us in Norfolk, Saturday and Sunday afternoons we played at the Rochester Sweeps Festival, dashing back to Leicester Sunday night to play there then Monday afternoon doing a couple of sets open air for the city's May Bank Holiday celebrations in Town Hall Square

This week we're busy recording songs for our forthcoming new album "Longtails & Yellerbellies" which we're hoping to have completed by June, while this weekend has us making the trip back to Norfolk to perform at the Cromer "Folk on the Pier" festival. We hope you can make it down to Cromer to see us and have a fantastic day out by the seaside with sun, sand and strikingly good music!  We hope it'll be a weekend to remember!

Biggles

Last night I came back to find a hedgehog in my drive!  It tried to scurry (albeit rather slowly) under my gate but got stuck! I rang the RSPCA but they said it would take about 2-3 hours to get someone out if they weren't already on call. So I tried my hand, prising the slats of the wooden gate apart I managed to free him but he wouldn't budge.

I got my garden gloves and picked him up (at arms length in case of fleas, which he didn't have thankfully...at least none that I could see/find on me afterwards) and put him in the middle of the lawn. I then thought better of it, as he seemed a bit vulnerable to attack in the open, so I put him under one of the hedges near the drive and covered him with some of the grass clumps from the patio and a few leaves to camouflage/keep him warm.

Checked this morning and he'd gone - hope he'll be ok!

You really should feel sorry for the pub cleaners on the 18th of March. They must walk into their pubs in the morning and take a long, deep breath.

After a hectic St. Patrick's weekend and 5 gigs in 4 days in different parts of the country we're also exhausted! I'm all croaky and can't speak properly and poor old Martin has blisters on his fingers!

On Friday we performed in Braybrooke, Northants, and on Saturday we took a trip to Grantham, Lincs. Sunday we headed out to picturesque Shropshire and the historic town of Shrewsbury to perform at the Seven Stars Inn. While there we took the opportunity to do some promotion and came upon the King's Head, a beautiful Tudor pub in the heart of the town centre. We gave an impromptu demonstration and subsequently have been booked for April the 27th! Also of note was the pub's amazing thirteenth century wall painting of the last supper. Apparently the pub stands on the site of an old mediaeval chapel and the wall painting is a relic from these days. Astonishingly it still has all it's original colour!

To finish off our St. Pat's weekend we performed two gigs on Monday, first heading back to Lincolnshire to sunny Spalding in the afternoon, then dashing off to play in Coventry in the evening!
We're having a rest day today as we're feeling quite dilapidated!

Hiya again! Just back from a gig in Kington St. Michael, Wilts, which was a roaring success. A repeat booking will definitely be coming up soon so keep an eye on the gig lists.

Earlier in the week Martin and me paid a visit to the Fen Country of Cambs, Hunts and Lincs. We visited many of the small villages in the area and most of the sizeable towns too including Ely, March, Soham, St. Ives and Chatteris. We gave a few impromptu demonstrations so we should have some gigs coming up in the fens very soon!

Biggles

After a quiet spell Norcsalordie are hitting the road again travelling from Somerset to Lincolnshire in a month crammed with gigs and I for one am really looking forward to it. This year looks to be really exciting for the band - we've 4 festivals including Leicester's Big Session on the 14th/15th June and Broadstairs Folk Festival '08!
As for news on the new guitar it's still all quiet at the moment. The last I saw on the tracking it left Montreal earlier this month so it may very well be sailing the briny seas to Blighty. - Reminds me of a song...

Yesterday we went up to the Peak District of Derbyshire to promote ourselves around the area. For those of you who haven't visited it, the Peak District is a must see for anyone visiting the midlands and for me counts as one of the most scenic parts of the country. We gave impromtu mini-gigs around Matlock, Bakewell, Cromford and the surrounding area, much to the delight of the regulars on what was quite a busy Sunday afternoon. As a result we have two new gigs, 28th March at The Horseshoe in Matlock and the 4th April at the Rising Sun in Middleton. We hope to see you all there!

P.S If you're travelling up there during the late evening you might even get the the amazing experience of a sunset over the rocky outcrops of the peaks- a sight which amazed us!

Biggles

Well, we're back form Triscombe and it went really well - we're back there on the 11th April! Must say a big thanks to Chloe for helping out on the drive down - I don't think I could have made it there and back in one night! We did meet up with Andrew from Jankie Fardal, who was very cryptic as to the true meaning of the band name... we will find out at some point. If you're ever in the area (hopefully 11th April *wink wink*) I really recommend the food - all the food is locally grown (where possible) and smells delicious! The gig itself was thouroughly enjoyable and the time flew by which is always a good sign

Still no sign of the new guitar, however I have been assured that it is on the way. Really can't wait to start using it, however I'll have to wait as it's not got a pickup fitted. I've been pointed towards the L R Baggs pickups by the Canadian guys (Harry/Ted at Music Pro - Barrie, Ontario) which seem cheaper than the Fishmans - maybe they're a dark horse which are deceptively cheaper. I'll have to try some out... Will keep you posted :)

Well, we're heading off to Zummerzet tonight to play at the Blue Ball Inn in Triscombe. What better place could there be for a gig? The pub is right up in the gorgeous Quantock Hills in the heart of the West Country. Hopefully Jankie Fardal will come down to see us, it'd be good to meet them face to face before our head to head battle for the title of "liveliest folk music in the Quantocks".

It's interesting that apparently Andrew Rock of Jankie Fardal is a fellow yellerbelly - wonder if any of them are from Kent? Maybe we'll have to send our spies out to have a sneaky peek at them perform so we can get an idea of what we're up against.
