Martin Neal

Martin, 30 is originally from Sidcup, Kent.

Universally known to his friends as Biggles, he lives in Leicester where he went to university.  As part of his course he spent a year at La Roche sur Yon in Western France where he was impressed by the amazing street music and arts scene. While there he bought his first trusty Norman guitar,  a B20 12 string to which he has since added a B50 12 string which he imported direct from Canada

A highly versatile musician, and self confessed perfectionist he has been playing guitar for 11 years and sets down the music to complement Paul’s sharp lyrics

Paul McHugh

Singer Paul McHugh, 26 comes originally from Grimsby in Lincolnshire.  Proud of his Lincolnshire heritage Paul wants to expand his repertoire of sea shanties in honour of the fishing history of his home town

Now resident in Leicester, Paul inherits his vocal talents and love of music from his grandfather who taught him many of the songs Norcsalordie now perform.

Paul writes the lyrics for Norcsalordie's own songs and typically with his offering Cursed Cornelius there are no holds barred

Maggie May (traditional) at Ye Arrow during the Sweeps Festival, Rochester, Kent

Both great fans of folk music comic and tragic, haunting and bawdy, Paul and Biggles share a rapport on stage that is visible - in the middle of a song a smile, a nod or a glance speaks volumes.

Paul is an accomplished poet and his rich voice is complemented by breathtaking guitar skills and harmonies from Biggles - together they make a formidable duo

Their influences come from a broad spectrum of music from the Wurzels to David Bowie.  The result is traditional music in a contemporary style.

FOLK WITH PASSION

"We want to bring folk music to life - to rescue Folk and Traditional music from its staid musty image. We want to take it out of its little box and share it with as wide an audience as possible - reaching people who would never consider going to a folk club while still appealing to dedicated folk fans with open minds.

We are passionate about it - our motivation is to see you out there in the audience really enjoying yourselves at our gigs - singing, clapping and dancing."
